Remote Consular Officer / Passport Specialist — AI Research & Domain Evaluation

We are seeking a detail-oriented Remote Consular Officer / Passport Specialist — AI Research & Domain Evaluation ($50 - $70/hour, 100% remote) to join ZR Talent Group. Contributors in this role draw upon real-world mastery of domain analysis and structured evaluation to evaluate AI-generated deliverables, construct detailed grading rubrics, and guide post-training model alignment.

Prior experience building machine learning systems is not required—our research partners value authentic practitioner judgment, domain rigor, and clear analytical writing.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

• Review sample passport and citizenship questions and flag any that don’t sound like what real people ask.
• Write rubrics that define a correct, complete answer for complex cases, such as lost, stolen, or damaged passports, name changes, and citizenship documentation.
• Cover situations involving minors, custody, and applicants born or living abroad in your rubrics.
• Assess and benchmark model-generated answers against your rubrics, flagging errors, omissions, and outdated guidance.
• Share clear written feedback with the project team, working asynchronously.

Required Qualifications & Technical Criteria

• Former State Department experience in a passport agency (Passport Specialist/Adjudicator) or consular section (Consular Officer)
• 1+ years adjudicating or advising on passport or citizenship matters
• Working knowledge of citizenship and nationality rules and passport eligibility
• US-based
• Able to start quickly and commit 20-30 hours/week
• Clear, precise writing

Preferred Experience & Bonus Attributes

• Practical background using document fraud detection
• Practical background using name change and identity documentation cases
• Experience creating guides, FAQs, or training materials
• Experience helping a diverse range of applicants, including non-English-speaking customers

Compensation, Remote Eligibility & Schedule

• Compensation Band: $50 - $70/hour
• Work Model: 100% Remote / Work From Home with flexible asynchronous scheduling
