Remote Military Operations & Reporting SME — AI Research & Domain Evaluation

ZR Talent Group has an active remote opening for a Remote Military Operations & Reporting SME — AI Research & Domain Evaluation ($40 - $80/hour). This flexible work-from-home role pairs experienced practitioners in military operations expertise, dod reporting standards, report writing, information synthesis with leading machine learning laboratories to author high-difficulty prompts, verify factual and technical rigor, and refine multi-step reasoning outputs.

Prior experience building machine learning systems is not required—our research partners value authentic practitioner judgment, domain rigor, and clear analytical writing.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

• Audit, critique, and score military and DoD reporting content for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with real-world procedures.
• Apply firsthand experience gathering information from multiple teams or staff sections and turning it into reports and executive updates for senior leadership.
• Provide high-quality written feedback on model-generated reporting materials.
• Assess AI outputs for appropriate military terminology, reporting standards, and information synthesis.
• Develop and refine realistic reporting examples and scenarios for AI training.

Required Qualifications & Technical Criteria

• Demonstrated professional or advanced academic background in military operations expertise, dod reporting standards, report writing, information synthesis.
• Strong analytical writing and critical evaluation skills in English.
• Self-directed work ethic suited for an asynchronous, 100% remote research environment.

Preferred Experience & Bonus Attributes

• 3+ years of experience within the U.S. Department of Defense as a uniformed service member, DoD civilian, or both.
• Experience personally preparing recurring reports or executive updates for senior military or DoD leadership.
• Practical background using reports such as Weekly Activity Reports (WARs), Project/Program Status Reports, Performance/Accomplishment Reports, After-Action Reports (AARs), or Budget Execution Reports.
• Background in military operations, plans, headquarters/command staff, program management, executive support, or resource management.
• Strong written communication skills and experience synthesizing inputs from multiple teams into clear, concise reporting.
• Experience as an Operations Officer/NCO, Plans Officer, Action Officer, Staff Officer, Executive Officer, or similar headquarters role is a plus.
