ZR Talent Group has an active remote opening for a Remote M&A Investment Banking & Valuation Modeling Advisor — AI Research & Domain Evaluation ($175 - $300/hour). This flexible work-from-home role pairs experienced practitioners in financial modeling, excel, company and industry research, comparable company analysis with leading machine learning laboratories to author high-difficulty prompts, verify factual and technical rigor, and refine multi-step reasoning outputs.

Prior experience building machine learning systems is not required—our research partners value authentic practitioner judgment, domain rigor, and clear analytical writing.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

• Conduct comprehensive company and industry research to inform data-driven AI training initiatives.
• Perform and review buyer or target screening, comparable company analysis, and financial modeling tasks.
• Build, update, and troubleshoot detailed Excel-based valuation and transaction models, ensuring methodological accuracy and logical consistency.
• Prepare and edit materials akin to client presentations or pitchbooks, reflecting transaction execution scenarios and strategic rationale.
• Analyze and critique sample materials for numerical errors, weak strategy, or unclear logic, providing actionable feedback for improvement.
• Explain accounting treatments, valuation adjustments, deal sensitivities, and trace how key assumptions influence analytical outcomes.
• Deliver precise written and verbal explanations of complex financial concepts tailored to diverse audiences, leveraging strong communication skills.

Required Qualifications & Technical Criteria

• Demonstrated professional or advanced academic background in financial modeling, excel, company and industry research, comparable company analysis.
• Strong analytical writing and critical evaluation skills in English.
• Self-directed work ethic suited for an asynchronous, 100% remote research environment.

Preferred Experience & Bonus Attributes

• Experience as a former Senior Associate (preferably third-year) or Vice President from an M&A or industry-coverage team at a leading investment bank, established M&A boutique, or sector-focused advisory firm.
• Substantial hands-on exposure to live acquisition or sale processes, with a track record of high-quality analysis and client-facing deliverables.
• Demonstrated ability to both produce and review analytical and presentation materials, ensuring they meet senior banker or client standards.
• Mastery in Excel modeling, including troubleshooting, scenario analysis, and presentation of outputs with clear rationale.
• Direct experience conducting company/industry research, target screening, comps analysis, and pitchbook preparation.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and actionable feedback.
• Ability to identify and clearly articulate quantitative inaccuracies and strategic weaknesses in transaction materials.
