Role Overview & Full Requirements
ZR Talent Group has an active remote opening for a Remote CAD Design Expert (Instructor) — AI Research & Domain Evaluation ($40 - $90/hour). This flexible work-from-home role pairs experienced practitioners in CAD tools mastery, Parametric modeling mastery, Design intent & assembly reasoning, CAD design experience with leading machine learning laboratories to author high-difficulty prompts, verify factual and technical rigor, and refine multi-step reasoning outputs.
Prior experience building machine learning systems is not required—our research partners value authentic practitioner judgment, domain rigor, and clear analytical writing.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Analyze and interpret product requirements to design robust, manufacturable multi-part assemblies using advanced parametric CAD tools.
- Demonstrate design intent and assembly reasoning by making critical decisions on architecture, component placement, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Document design rationales, best practices, and DFM (Design for Manufacturability) considerations to guide AI learning workflows.
- Create, annotate, and optimize 3D models and assemblies that exemplify expert-level CAD methodologies.
- Review and critique sample designs, providing detailed feedback on modeling strategies and design feasibility.
- Collaborate asynchronously with the project team, responding to queries and clarifying complex design decisions in clear written and verbal communication.
- Contribute educational insights or mentoring content based on your CAD expertise to improve project deliverables.
Required Qualifications & Technical Criteria
- Demonstrated professional or advanced academic background in CAD tools mastery, Parametric modeling mastery, Design intent & assembly reasoning, CAD design experience.
- Strong analytical writing and critical evaluation skills in English.
- Self-directed work ethic suited for an asynchronous, 100% remote research environment.
Preferred Experience & Bonus Attributes
- 5+ years in professional CAD design, with responsibility for leading design decisions on complex assemblies, including architecture, mating strategies, tolerances, and DFM principles.
- Mastery of a major parametric CAD software package (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, Solid Edge); familiarity with FreeCAD is a plus.
- Strong capability to articulate design logic, trade-offs, and assembly intent both in documentation and through interactive discussions.
- Experience mentoring, teaching, or enabling others in CAD design, formally or informally.
- A recognized CAD credential (e.g., CSWE/CSWP, Autodesk Certified Instructor/Expert Elite, ASME GDTP, SOLIDWORKS Champion) is highly valued and may substitute for a formal experience bar.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in remote and asynchronous professional contexts.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering insightful, high-quality contributions.
