Software Engineer, Product Engineering — Enterprise AI Solutions & Strategy

ZR Talent Group is recruiting a qualified Software Engineer, Product Engineering — Enterprise AI Solutions & Strategy for a 100% remote contract opportunity ($200,000 - $300,000/year) open to candidates across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa. In this specialist engagement, you will collaborate with advanced AI research teams to design domain-specific evaluation scenarios, audit complex model reasoning, and establish gold-standard reference solutions in JS/TS, AI-Native Engineering, End-to-End Product Ownership, Backend Architecture & Scalability.

Prior experience building machine learning systems is not required—our research partners value authentic practitioner judgment, domain rigor, and clear analytical writing.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

• Architect, implement, and scale full-stack applications using React, Node.js, and TypeScript.
• Take full lifecycle ownership of platform features from initial concept through completion, from architecture to production.
• Develop reliable backend services, APIs, and performant frontend interfaces.
• Design and optimize databases, data models, and queries.
• Partner cross-functionally with product, operations, and design to turn ideas into working solutions.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, and developer experience.
• Make practical technical decisions while balancing speed, quality, and scalability.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve existing systems.

Required Qualifications & Technical Criteria

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js across the full stack.
• Experience as an early member of an engineering team, helping a startup grow and scale over time.
• A track record of building and scaling products in high-growth startup environments.
• AI-native mindset: You actively use AI coding tools (like Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) as part of your daily workflow and know how to get the most out of them.
• Experience taking products from idea to production and adapting systems as the business grows.
• Solid experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Practical background using REST APIs, cloud platforms (AWS or similar), and modern backend architectures.
• Comfortable working with ambiguity, making decisions independently, and taking ownership of your work.
• A hands-on, problem-solving mindset with a bias toward shipping.

Preferred Experience & Bonus Attributes

• Practical background using NestJS, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, or DevOps.
• Experience building internal tools, developer platforms, or workflow automation.
• Exposure to AI-powered or data-heavy products.
• Experience improving architecture and engineering processes as a startup scales.
• Working knowledge of monitoring, observability, and system reliability.
• Compensation & Benefits Notice
• The national pay range for this full-time position is base salary of $120,000 –$160,000 USD. All employees are eligible for equity compensation, and employees may also receive performance-based bonuses, dependent on role and subject to company policies.
