ZR Talent Group is recruiting a qualified Remote Senior Backend Systems Engineer (Python, Java & Rust) — AI Benchmarks for a 100% remote contract opportunity ($30 - $100/hour) open to candidates across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa. In this specialist engagement, you will collaborate with advanced AI research teams to design domain-specific evaluation scenarios, audit complex model reasoning, and establish gold-standard reference solutions in Python3, JAVA, Rust, Algorithms.

Prior experience building machine learning systems is not required—our research partners value authentic practitioner judgment, domain rigor, and clear analytical writing.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

• Author, review, and calibrate domain-specific prompts and benchmark tasks across Python3, JAVA, Rust, Algorithms.
• Evaluate AI model responses for factual precision, domain compliance, and step-by-step reasoning quality.
• Develop clear scoring rubrics and gold-standard reference answers for complex edge cases.
• Document systematic reasoning errors and provide actionable feedback to machine learning research leads.

Required Qualifications & Technical Criteria

• Strong backend experience in Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, Typescript, Python, C++ or similar
• A track record building scalable services and APIs
• Comfort with debugging, performance work and automated testing
• Solid code review instincts
• A strong testing background is a big plus — experience designing test strategy, building and maintaining large test suites, diagnosing flaky tests, or raising the testing bar on a team.

Preferred Experience & Bonus Attributes

• Proven experience in backend development, with a track record of delivering high-quality and performant projects.
• Demonstrated success in identifying and resolving software bugs and system bottlenecks.
• Practical background using codebase refactoring and implementing complex features in large-scale applications.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and foundational computer science concepts.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
