Remote Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) — AI Research & Domain Evaluation

Join ZR Talent Group's remote specialist network as a Remote Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) — AI Research & Domain Evaluation earning $50 - $70/hour. Working asynchronously from anywhere in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or South Africa, you will apply your practical background in ICD-10, CCS, Inpatient Records, CPT to benchmark frontier artificial intelligence models, identify failure modes, and elevate domain-specific accuracy.

Prior experience building machine learning systems is not required—our research partners value authentic practitioner judgment, domain rigor, and clear analytical writing.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

• Review and analyze inpatient medical records to ensure accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding in alignment with current guidelines and best practices.
• Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and coding integrity.
• Assess and benchmark model-generated clinical notes and summaries against real-world documentation and coding standards.
• Code model-generated diagnostic and procedural information from the record using ICD and CPT/HCPCS classification systems.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in diagnosis and procedure coding, ensuring the integrity of record abstraction and data capture.
• Enter model-generated patient information into computerized inpatient and outpatient medical record databases.

Required Qualifications & Technical Criteria

• Demonstrated professional or advanced academic background in ICD-10, CCS, Inpatient Records, CPT.
• Strong analytical writing and critical evaluation skills in English.
• Self-directed work ethic suited for an asynchronous, 100% remote research environment.

Preferred Experience & Bonus Attributes

• Active certification in one of the following: CCS, CIC, COC, RHIA, or RHIT or other coding certification through AHIMA and AAPC.
• ICD-10 coding experience.
• Access to up-to-date official ICD-10 and CPT coding books, as well as E&M guidelines.
• Currently working in medical coding, clinical documentation improvement, or a closely related documentation role
• Availability of at least 10 hours per week

Compensation, Remote Eligibility & Schedule

• Compensation Band: $50 - $70/hour
