Role Overview & Full Requirements
Join ZR Talent Group's remote specialist network as a Remote Autodesk Inventor Specialist — AI Research & Domain Evaluation earning $30 - $100/hour. Working asynchronously from anywhere in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or South Africa, you will apply your practical background in autodesk inventor, parametric 3d cad modeling, gd&t (asme y14.5), design for manufacturability (dfm) to benchmark frontier artificial intelligence models, identify failure modes, and elevate domain-specific accuracy.
Prior experience building machine learning systems is not required—our research partners value authentic practitioner judgment, domain rigor, and clear analytical writing.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Develop fully-parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies based on detailed written briefs using Autodesk Inventor (or comparable platforms).
- Edit and update existing models to reflect revised requirements, ensuring all changes remain fully parametric and in line with best practices.
- Audit and review CAD models for compliance with dimensional, tolerance, and manufacturability criteria, identifying and documenting any gaps or issues.
- Create and interpret detailed technical drawings, applying ASME Y14.5 or equivalent GD&T standards.
- Ensure robust Design for Manufacturability (DFM) considerations across processes such as injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and casting/forging.
- Support AI training initiatives by providing clear documentation and rationale for design decisions, edits, and audits.
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal formats, delivering precise feedback and solution-oriented insights to project stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Technical Criteria
- Demonstrated professional or advanced academic background in autodesk inventor, parametric 3d cad modeling, gd&t (asme y14.5), design for manufacturability (dfm).
- Strong analytical writing and critical evaluation skills in English.
- Self-directed work ethic suited for an asynchronous, 100% remote research environment.
Preferred Experience & Bonus Attributes
- 4+ years of hands-on parametric modeling experience for edit-level tasks; 10+ years for complex creation work.
- Expertise in Autodesk Inventor, with fluency in similar platforms like FreeCAD, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360 considered highly relevant.
- Demonstrated proficiency with GD&T (ASME Y14.5 or equivalent), with practical, real-world application.
- Proven DFM experience covering at least two to three manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, casting).
- Practical background using reverse engineering workflows, such as scan-to-CAD or point cloud-to-model reconstruction.
- Ability to manage assembly-level designs and complex mechanical systems, not just single-part modeling.
- Working knowledge of CAD automation, scripting (Python, iLogic, VBA, NX Open), or similar tools for enhancing workflow efficiency.
Compensation, Remote Eligibility & Schedule
- Compensation Band: $30 - $100/hour
- Work Model: 100% Remote / Work From Home with flexible asynchronous scheduling
- Eligible Remote Locations: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa
